Drake's team claims that binary-field proof systems like Binius (Benjamin Diamond, Jim Posen, 2023) can now express standard hashes with performance comparable to Poseidon-based SNARKs—roughly 1 million hash evaluations per second on a laptop, about 100 times slower than native CPU but within the same order of magnitude. If the production throughput is worse than expected, the entire ZK-rollup ecosystem—which depends on cheap proof verification—faces a cost shock. Logic does not care about your narrative. Ponzi schemes eventually face their own gravity. This is not a Ponzi, but the gravity of design choices will pull projects into alignment with the base layer, whether they plan for it or not.
